Centerpieces

Coming up with wedding decorations can sometimes be hard, especially if you are not hiring a decorator. Here are some reception centerpiece ideas to get you started.

traditional/classy

  • Hurricane cylinder filled with sliced citrus fruit, water, and a floating candle
  • Hurricane cylinder filled with flowers/flower heads (i.e. hydrangeas, peonies, roses) and water
  • Topiaries
  • Candelabras
  • Leaves plastered around edges of candles
  • Wheat stalks or long grasses around edges of candles
  • Luminaries-white paper bags with glassine lining and decorative tops and ribbon tied around
  • Shallow bowls filled with water and floating flowers (i.e. hydrangeas, roses, peonies), rocks, shells, marbles, petals, candles, or fruit
  • Silver platters with flower petals, candles, candy dishes, etc. on top
  • Decorative mirrors with flower petals, candles, candy dishes, floral arrangements etc. on top
  • Bowls or vases with monochromatic fruit and/or flowers (i.e. red—apples, cranberries pomegranates, roses, etc.)
  • Bowls full of fruit (pears, oranges, lemons, limes, apples, grapefruit, etc.)
  • Numerous shallow bowls, one with floating flowers, one with floating candles in your colors—looks especially nice on long rectangular tables
  • Baskets full of fruit and/or flowers
  • Floral spheres
  • Painted buckets with decorative stick-on table numbers with floral arrangements inside
  • Picture groupings of the couple
  • Vases with tree branches/flowering tree branches
  • vases filled with seashells—with notes written to the couple thrown inside throughout the reception
  • Platter with favors on top
  • Square vases wrapped with rice paper and candles inside
  • Miniature cakes (in lieu of one large wedding cake)
  • Dessert towers
  • Hors d’oeuvres towers
  • Old wine bottles with drippy candles
  • Watering cans filled with flowers—satchels of flower seeds for favors
  • Oil lamps
  • Wrapped boxes filled with favors
  • Porcelain figurines
    -Monogrammed letters
  • Individual flowers in bud vases (can double as favors)
  • Teapots
  • Old clocks

Contemporary Style

  • Bamboo Plants
  • Bonsai Trees
  • Glass fishbowl with fish (fish could double as favors)
  • Branches with mini Chinese lanterns
  • Birdcages
  • Vases of glass bowls filled with sand and coral or seashells
